Details
On Wednesday, June 7 from 7-8:15pm Historic Chevy Chase DC (HCCDC) will be presenting a Zoom event, " A Conversation with a Displaced Black Community: Chevy Chase in the Arc of American History." The program is the result of a partnership between HCCDC and the University of the District of Columbia to explore multi-generational effects of Black land loss. HCCDC has been working with, and learning from, descendants of African American neighbors on Broad Branch Road. Two families among the descendant group have connections that go back to George Washington and Mount Vernon, from slavery, to freedom, to nation building, to racial displacement. According to HCCDC, this event seeks to rediscover and acknowledge this neighborhood history, and includes the stories of the descendants. A registration link will be available in the middle of May on the HCCDC website. ANC3/4G is co-sponsoring the event
