Milk Tree - A Creative Space by Robin Bell

Bell Visuals is returning to Friendship Heights for another amazing interactive exhibit in a small space on Wisconsin Avenue NW. Centered around lighting, video, and the unique tropical plant Milk Tree, Bell Visuals plans to transform a storefront retail shop into a workspace, display location, and exhibit.
One of the key features of the project is an LED light installation entitled Milk Tree.

In 2018, the artist, Robin Bell, and his partner, Sorane Yamahira, began propagating plants from a single Milk Tree. Since then, they’ve created over 80 plants from the original plant. The milk trees became the basis for an artwork including three-dimensional structures and lights that correspond to the trees. The Milk Tree LED installation will enliven the space’s windows and the rest will be used as a gallery and a workspace for Bell Visuals. Bell plans to display and build digital artwork and projects, hold gallery hours, and organize digital art events in collaboration with other local artists. This will include artist talks and tours of the work on display, as well as working with the Friendship Heights Alliance and Grosvenor team to develop events that will intersect with other activities and groups in the community.

"I am excited about the synergy between my work and the Friendship Height Alliance and see this project as an extension to that. I believe this project will help support local business by bringing in audiences to see the work," Bell said.

The Milk Tree window display will debut in September, and the Creative Space will be open for viewing on the following dates:

September 12th, 6 – 8 PM

October 10th, 6 – 8 PM

November 15th, 6 – 8 PM

Location: 5221 Wisconsin Avenue NW (near Ingraham Street NW), DC
