Bright Horizons Now Open
Friendship Heights is now home to a new space dedicated to nurturing the next generation. Bright Horizons opened its doors earlier this year, offering high-quality child care and early education for children from six weeks to five years old.
For center director Shantee Bentzen, who has spent more than 20 years in early childhood education, opening in Friendship Heights represents the fulfillment of a lifelong calling. “Watching children learn new skills and being part of their growth is so gratifying,” she said. “These children are our future, and it’s our job to set them—and their teachers—up for success.”
Located directly across from the Friendship Heights Metro, Bright Horizons provides a convenient, welcoming environment that supports both learning and community. Through its Discovery Driven Learning approach, Bright Horizons encourages children to follow their interests through hands-on activities, thoughtfully designed classrooms, and strong teacher connections.
With 13 classrooms, secure entryways, and balanced, catered meals included in tuition, Bright Horizons was built with families in mind. The center offers full-time and part-time programs, along with flexible drop-in and back-up care options to meet the needs of busy parents. A fenced outdoor play area and an indoor enrichment space add more opportunities for children to explore.
Since opening, the Bright Horizons team has felt right at home. “This community truly embodies our ‘heart’ principles of excellence, respect, and teamwork,” Bentzen noted.
