Sunday Commons & Market

Sunday Commons is a weekly gathering focused on food, community activities, and occasional performances, at Wisconsin and Harrison Streets NW. By transforming sidewalks into a vibrant civic space, this weekly market showcases the potential of small gathering places to foster social connections, strengthen community identity, and support local businesses. 

Spring Dates: April 5 – June 28, 2026, except for May 10 (due to the Makers Market on May 9)

Fall Dates: August 30 – November 22, 2026, except for Nov. 15 (due to the Makers Market on Nov. 14)

Time: 10 am to 2 pm

Location: Sidewalk in front of 5210 Wisconsin Avenue NW (in front of the Pepco Substation) at Wisconsin Avenue and Harrison Street NW

Special Events in August & September:

Aug 30, 2026: Sunday Commons + Keychain Workshop: Live performance by Sadia from 10-12:30 plus a Keychain making workshop by Baer Stitches (Trisha). All supplies will be provided for participants. RSVP required for the keychain making workshop. (cap at 50). 

Looking for a fun, hands on way to decorate your bags and backpacks? Join us for the keychain workshop, where you will create a custom keychain charm design using market finds and materials we provide. Instructor: Trisha Shrivastava is a multidisciplinary artist based in Washington, DC. Her work spans graphic design, jewelry making, embroidery and crochet.

1. The Montgomery County Transportation Bike to Work team will be joining the market
2. There will be a Yelp DC Coozies giveaway for first 30 customers who purchase from the vendors. Proof of purchase will be required and offer until supplies last.

Sept. 6, 2026: Sunday Commons + Collage Workshop: Enjoy DJ Beats by DJ Duchess from 10-1 plus a collage making workshop by Khadija Jahmila from 10-12. All supplies will be provided for participants. RSVP required for the workshop.

In this hands-on collage workshop, participants are invited to explore the creative possibilities of cut and torn paper. Through layering images, textures, and unexpected combinations, you’ll create your own unique collage while experimenting with intuition, imagination, and visual storytelling. Artist Khadija Jahmila will share her approach to working intuitively and finding inspiration through the process of play and discovery. All materials are provided, and no prior collage experience is needed. Everyone is welcome!

Sept. 13, 2026: Sunday Commons + Rhythm & Reset Workshop: Live performance by Sadia from 10-12:30 plus a whole body movement class by Claire Dries from 10-11. The class will focus on mindfulness. Please bring a mat. No RSVP necessary.

Rhythm + Reset is a 30-minute, beat-driven class for teens that blends strength training, mobility, and mindfulness into one energizing flow. Set to music, participants move through bodyweight strength intervals to build endurance, followed by mobility work to increase flexibility and reduce tension. The class finishes with a short guided mindfulness segment to help reset and refocus. No experience needed—just come ready to move, sweat, and vibe. This class is designed to build confidence, support mental well-being, and make fitness feel fun and accessible.

Instructor Bio: Claire Dries is a group fitness instructor with over eight years of experience teaching in the DMV area. Her classes are upbeat, music-driven, and designed to be both effective and approachable. Claire is passionate about creating inclusive spaces where participants—especially teens—can build strength, reduce stress, and feel confident in their bodies.
