Bell Visuals created an interactive exhibit on Wisconsin Avenue NW. Centered around lighting, video, and the unique tropical plant Milk Tree, Bell Visuals transformed a storefront retail shop into a workspace, display location, and exhibit.
One of the key features of the project is a projection and LED light installation entitled Milk Tree.
In 2018, the artist, Robin Bell, and his partner began propagating plants from a single Milk Tree. Since then, they’ve created over 80 plants from the original plant. The milk trees became the basis for an artwork including three-dimensional structures and lights that correspond to the trees. The Milk Tree LED installation will enliven the space’s windows and the rest will be used as a gallery and a workspace for Bell Visuals. Bell plans to display and build digital artwork and projects, hold gallery hours, and organize digital art events in collaboration with other local artists. This will include artist talks and tours of the work on display, as well as working with the Friendship Heights Alliance and Grosvenor team to develop events that will intersect with other activity and groups in the community.
