Rodman’s Celebrates 71 Years of Community Impacts with Proclamation from Mayor Mural Bowser
Washington, DC, September 24, 2026 – The Bowser administration will celebrate 71 years of Rodman’s service to the community with a special proclamation honoring the business this Friday. The family-owned Rodman's has been part of the fabric of Washington, DC for more than seven decades, and Rodman’s Wisconsin Avenue store has been part of the Friendship Heights community since 1964, serving generations of Washingtonians with its distinctive mix of specialty and international foods, wine and spirits, pharmacy services and the personal service of an independent, family-run business.
“Rodman’s remains the most beloved business in Friendship Heights — truly a place that Washingtonians and Marylanders have come to depend on,” said Natalie Avery, executive director of the Friendship Heights Alliance.
“Being recognized by Mayor Bowser and the District after 71 years in business is incredibly meaningful to our family,” said Nolan Rodman, president and third-generation owner of Rodman’s, who also serves on the Friendship Heights Alliance board. “Rodman’s has always been more than just a store—we have grown up alongside this community, served generations of families, and built relationships with customers that have lasted for decades. As the third generation of my family to lead Rodman’s, I feel a tremendous responsibility to carry that legacy forward while continuing to evolve for the next generation. We are extremely proud to call Washington, DC home, and grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past 71 years.
