Angelo Zambrano Brings Italian Craftsmanship to Friendship Heights

If you step inside Cucine Lube in Friendship Heights, there’s a good chance you’ll be offered a cappuccino before you’re offered a cabinet.

That gesture says a lot about Angelo Zambrano, executive manager of Cucine Lube. For him, business is personal. It’s about relationships, trust, and standing behind what you sell.

Born in Venezuela and trained as an architect, Angelo’s background spans design, finance, and development — but at heart, he’s always been an entrepreneur.

In 2007, when many businesses were closing during the economic downturn, Angelo opened his own countertop shop in Georgetown. “Every business is a risk,” he says. “The difference is believing in yourself and making every effort to make it work.” As his business evolved, so did his focus.

Cucine Lube is one of Italy’s leading cabinetry manufacturers and a family-owned company with nearly 60 years of history. Known for its beautiful style and quality, the brand reflects what Italian design does best: elegance paired with function.

After years in Georgetown’s Design District, Angelo chose Friendship Heights intentionally. He has lived in the DC area for 26 years, always near this neighborhood.

“There are different eras,” he reflects. “Georgetown was right for one moment. Now it’s right to be here.”

Friendship Heights offers something different: accessibility, familiarity, and ease. The 1,700-square-foot boutique showroom feels curated and approachable – large enough to showcase multiple kitchen models, yet intimate enough for conversation.

While Cucine Lube cabinetry anchors the space, Angelo also offers select Italian brands including Smeg, Cerasa and Tomasella, creating a cohesive design experience. For architects, designers, and developers, he carries Creo, a sister brand tailored for larger-scale projects.

For Angelo, success comes down to human relationships. He values the support of the Friendship Heights Alliance and sees his showroom as part of the neighborhood’s evolving boutique landscape. Whether you’re actively renovating or just beginning to explore ideas, Angelo is ready to show you what thoughtful design and personal service can look like close to home.
