Rome Pizza & Sub
Tucked in the heart of Friendship Heights, Rome Pizza & Sub is a beloved neighborhood staple with a fresh twist. In December 2024, a family of five from South Carolina took over the restaurant after the original owners, Ben and Parvin, decided to retire. The connection came through a mutual landlord, and although the new owners were not actively seeking a restaurant, the opportunity was too good to pass up.
Rome Pizza & Sub is known for its daily jumbo slices, freshly made dough and sauces, and, as the owners put it, “a side of Southern Hospitality” with every order. Whether you are craving tomato, pesto, or white sauce, everything is crafted in-house to reflect how the team would want their own meal served.
For the new owners, husband and wife, Terry & Glenda, one of the most rewarding parts of running Rome Pizza & Sub has been meeting the community. With more than fifteen years in Friendship Heights, Rome has built a loyal following, and neighbors often stop in to check on the former owners and see what is new. The team engages with locals daily through their Nextdoor business page and plans to grow their presence on Instagram, encouraging customers to tag them when enjoying a slice, pie, or sub. Looking ahead, they hope to collaborate with local schools, clubs, colleges, and churches to support and give back to the neighborhood they have quickly come to love.
From familiar faces returning for another slice to curious newcomers asking about the change in ownership, Rome Pizza & Sub is ready to welcome everyone and keep them coming back. Stop by on your next lunch break and continue to support our local businesses.
And thank you to Amanda Ilunga, our summer business outreach intern, for creating this month's business spotlight!
